Summer Glow Routine

After having many a hectic and busy months, I’ve streamlined my skincare. Long gone are the days of using 5+ products for morning and evening. But it’s made it easy to get an effective and quick skincare routine. Always researching skincare for glowy skin has given me an upper-hand and I’ve found some great products this year just for that. I find that products containing anything rose (rosehip oil, primrose, just roses in general) leave my skin with a perfect natural glow. During the summer months especially, a natural glow really compliments my freckles.

Like I’ve said before, my skin is normal/sensitive. Occasionally on the oily side but nothing major. So I use three steps to get my skin ready for the day and glowy. I haven’t been wearing any skincare at night as a chance to give my skin a moment to just be. So cleanser, toner and moisturizer have become my basics.

I’ve been using the Aesop Purifying Facial Cream Cleanser for 7 months now. I really do love it. It leaves my skin clean and moisturized. I couldn’t ask for a better product. I use warm water to lather a bit of the cleanser in my hands then spend a good 1-2 minutes massaging my skin. Then I take it off with water and a cloth or just water.

I recently switched to the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater. In my opinion, it’s much better than the Herbivore Botanicals Rose Facial Toner. The spray  bottle is a big plus; it releases a gentle allover mist, I can actually smell the fact that there is rose in it (which is a plus for me) and just works better with my moisturizer. So after cleansing I spray this all over. The while it dries, I go in with my moisturizer.

I have been using the Aesop Primrose Facial Hydrating Cream for 5 months and I’m on to my second jar. It’s amazing! Neither thick, nor greasy. It’s easy to work into the skin but makes my skin soft and moisturized. After the toner, while it’s still a bit wet on the face, I take a bit of the moisturizer and blend it into the skin. It’s godsend.

The Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream is proving to be a great year-round lip balm. In the colder months it works well on chapped lips but isn’t overwhelmingly thick or balmy. In the warmer months it just helps keep lips moisturized and healthy. All-around knockout.

A lot of the time we can neglect our hands in summer as it’s not as dry as in winter months. So I’ve put the Grown Alchemist Intensive Hand Cream in here just for that reason. It’s another great year-round product. Intensively moisturizing but not overwhelmingly thick.

About twice a week I use the Fig+Yarrow Clay Mask. I’ve only been using it for about 2 months but it’s been really nice. I actually like getting to mix the clay with water and turn it into a mask, surprisingly relaxing.
