4 Summer Haircare Tips

The best parts of summer, e.g. the sun, the sea and the heat, can be devastating for your hair. I’ve learned to compromise so that I can still enjoy all of the wonderful gifts that summer has to give but also protect my hair and keep it healthy at the same time. Here are just few things that help maintain my hair during the summer!

  1. I wash my hair as little as possible. I always stick to this rule of thumb just because over washing your hair with shampoo can do more harm than good. I stick to washing  my hair about every 5 days using the Aveda Color Conserve. Now, I don’t have color treated hair but this type of shampoo protects hair from sun and environmental damage and works especially well for color treated hair. For conditioner I use the Yes to Naturals Calming Scalp Relief Conditioner to help with my dry scalp. I leave this in for a good 5 minutes before washing it out and use it like a treatment. coconut
  2. Cleansing conditioner and dry shampoo are my best friend. In between washings I use the Ren Pure Coconut Cleansing Conditioner to refresh my hair without drying it out. It helps eliminate the product build-up from my dry shampoo. For the other days, dry shampoo is the answer. I prefer the Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak because it’s unscented and, well, I just don’t like the scent of other dry shampoo’s. cleanfreak
  3. Beach spray all the way, baby. It gives my hair that summer-y beach-y wave-y texture without going for a swim in the lake. I love this one from Herbivore Botanicals. It smells amazing and comes in a bottle small enough to bring with you wherever you are.
  4. Texturizing spray. The day after I wash my hair it always seems to be a bit lackluster and flat. So I spray a bit of the Not Your Mother’s Double Take in with a bit a of the beach spray to revive my messy beach-y hair look that I live for.

I would love to know what your go-to summer haircare pieces are! Let me know in the comments!
