As a vegetarian and all-around animal lover, I am constantly on the lookout for health and beauty items that are cruelty-free and/or vegan. I am also not a fan of artificially scented things therefore most of the products I like use essential oils as fragrance. LUSH is my go to brand as all of their products are made fresh, cruelty-free and sometimes vegan but I also love finding lesser-known brands that specialize in cruelty-free/vegan products. These are all the products that I’ve found thus far that work well for me and help me when I want to ‘pamper’ myself. My last haul at LUSH inspired me to blog about my cruelty-free pampers. I brought home the Honey Bee bath bomb, the Cosmetic Warrior fresh face mask, and From Dusk ‘Til Dawn massage bar. I will always buy products if they feature any by-product from honey bees. I love honey and why not support an essential population that is declining? Cosmetic Warrior is the most interesting fresh face mask that I’ve used because of the scent, which is reminiscent of the earth after it rains, but I think it’s my favorite. And I think the word “massage bar” speaks for itself. It melts into the skin, leaving skin deeply moisturized. The scent is wonderfully citrous; it reminds me of something from my childhood but I can’t put my finger on it. Here is how I incorporate them into my at-home pampering routine.I usually start the pamper session with lighting candles and putting on some music. I was listening to Frou Frou here (forever in-love with 90’s/00’s alt-pop.) The candle I used is the Paddywax Jasmine and Green Tea, it smells amazing and fills the whole bathroom. Then I draw the bath, which can take awhile simply due to the old nature of our tub so while I wait I wash and dry my face then apply the Cosmetic Warrior fresh face mask. It needs to stay on until it dries, which takes about 15 minutes. This is the perfect amount of time for a bath before I get too wrinkly. I toss the bath bomb in the tub, hop in, sit back and relax. After a few minutes I apply the wash+scrub from Wildbath by working a dollop into the skin. It cleanses while is exfoliates using fine powdered volcanic ash. It has been shown that exfoliants like mircobeads get washed down the drain and travel into waterways, collecting industrial run-off that then turn into sort of toxic pills. The fine powdered volcanic ash is a much more eco-friendly option and it smells amazing! Hurray for cruelty-free products for the environment. By this time my bath is getting cold so I add some more hot water then wash my fresh face mask off with water and a cloth. After I get out of the bath and dry off I spray some Valentina’s Home-Brewed natural body mist in the scent “Habit-Breaker” featuring sweet orange, cedar wood and lavender and my Everyone Lotion in Coconut + Lemon, both of these products have a perfect naturally sweet aroma while still maintaining the earthy undertones that I love. and if I’m lucky I can convince Harrison to give me a foot rub with the From Dusk ‘Til Dawn massage bar. Then I use the Burt’s Bees beeswax lip balm, again with the bees. I finish with my normal night time face routine, put on comfy p-j’s, tuck into bed and read or surf the web.
This is my favorite way to unwind and end the day while doing my part to support cruelty-free products. How do you pamper with your cruelty-free products?
